UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI'I OFFICE OF INNOVATION & COMMERCIALIZATION LOGO AND POWERPOINT THEME
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Office of Innovation and Commercialization at the University of Hawai'i is tasked with managing the research and innovation developed at all 10 campuses within the University of Hawai‘i System, protecting University of Hawai‘i intellectual property and technology assets and sharing those assets with a broader community to address the challenges and opportunities faced by Hawai‘i and the world. The Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) and UH Ventures are housed within OIC.
Working as a contractor at OIC from July 2019 to September 2019, I designed a logo and brand identity for OTT. The challenge was to incorporate design elements from two existing logos that had previously been designed for OIC and UH Ventures, and to create a cohesive design ecosystem that unified two seemingly dissimilar logo, signifying how closely the three offices work together. Part of the final project delivery was instructing the Vice Chancellor of Research and the OIC staff on utilizing the full logo suite and setting PowerPoint templates for use on future presentations.
TWO EXISTING LOGOS
I delivered the following analysis to the client, explaining the design elements that I would incorporate into the new OTT logo. With OTT handling the transfer of intellectual property from University to the start-up level, the circular motion in the wave design symbolizes this transfer-to-launch nature of this office's primary activities.
